Have you met Curiosity?  Let me introduce you.

Curiosity is the Mars rover than landed on the surface of Mars around midnight last night.  It's official, she is a girl and will be referred to in the feminine.  I didn't get to bed until the wee hours of the morning because her landing was so exciting.  It was a nail biting performance all the way.

I am not a fan of Mars and have never understood the world's passion to put humans on Mars.  I am, however, a total fan of the science we receive from space exploration.  I'm also a fan of the amazing technology and engineering that goes into making these space exploration missions a success.

I'm also a fan of the social media that's available for us to keep up with these missions on a moment to moment basis. In the early days of space exploration we didn't have that and it makes a big of difference.  I feel like I know Curiosity on a personal basis.  Isn't she cute? Go NASA go!

Daughter Susan in 1000 troduced me to Fage 0% Yogurt.  I'm not real crazy about yogurt but I like this one.  I'm eating it for breakfast now.

On The Road Again

Yesterday was rose garden day.  As is the custom in Oregon there was light rain off and on, but not enough to spoil our trip, so off we went.

As expected our guests were quite impressed with the roses.  They have over one hundred tea rose bushes themselves and she was very knowledgeable about roses.

She walked a lot more than she would have thought possible.  I suppose her level of excitement allowed her to forget about her pain and discomfort.  She wrote names in a notebook while he did camera duty.  Most of the full blossoms were at least seven inches in diameter.  I carried the tape measure to add to the photos proving the sizes.

We bought sausage dogs at a stand in the gardens and sat outside to eat them.  I thought she might wilt but she mustered the strength to march on to the gift shop.

Finished with the rose gardens it was on then to buy the manzanita bush.  The plan was to ask a nursery worker to bring it to the register and there would be limited walking.  Arriving at the nursery it was evident that wasn't going to happen.  It was a huge place and she was off and walking.  She walked a lot pointing to plants she'd like to buy.  They would have needed a truck to take it all home.  Finally she settled on what we'd come for but instead of buying one she bought two.


They love sugar-free ice cream and had seen a Baskin Robbins on our way to the nursery.  We stopped on the way home and while we were eating our ice cream it happened, she wilted.  They both wilted.  We were to have dinner last night with son and family but that never happened.


They decided to say their goodbyes in the hotel parking lot.  It was about 2:00 p.m. but they were through.  They were going to spend the afternoon napping, pack the car later in the day, and leave for home about 6:00 a.m. this morning.  We've heard nothing more so I can only assume that's what happened.

Solution!

Perhaps there is a Google god after all.  I never use forums.  I always get tangled up in them, but given I was desperate, and a reader sent me the link to Google's help forum, I tried.   Talk about quick.  Instantly a reply:

We've raised this with Google Engineering. Until it is fixed I would suggest settings your comments to either Full-Screen or Pop up rather than Embed.

NOTE: The problem does not happen with Google Chrome,so you should switch to using Google Chrome in the meantime

Hopefully Google will announce when the issues are fixed.

I'm impressed.  I immediately went to settings and changed the comments to 'pop-up' and was able to read your comments.  Now about Google Chrome, what is that?  Something new for me to learn I suppose.  I'm probably the only one in the world not using it.

I try to stay on top of all this digital stuff but sometimes you just wear out and need a break.  This is what happens when you take a break.

Almost everything that has advantages have disadvantages but when the advantages of a particular thing out weighs the disadvantages then it becomes insignificant, this is why I will not be discussing the disadvantages of a blog, because honestly I feel there is none. Well, except that the regular fresh content a blog requires can always make you feel on edge.
The advantages of a blog cannot be over-emphasized. The biggest advantage I see is that blogs give people, everyone alike, rich or poor an equal chance to be on the online world and write freely about their opinions, feelings and thoughts on different topics and subjects and actually have people worldwide
read them!

Considering myself as an example. I love expressing myself, and writing gives me the opportunity to do that effectively. I have always wanted a medium where I could put my written contents and have a lot of people read it, so I wrote some articles on MLM and had it published in a local newspaper (Financial Standard Newspaper) in Nigeria. But you will agree with me that, that is limited. With a website I could address the world. But since I do not have a website design skill, it met I had to pay for the service and that presently could cost me N25, 000 or more ($170 or more) Wow! That's some money. You could imagine how I felt when I realized I could achieve my dream using a blog without spending a dime!
